Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect summer to visit Walt Disney World, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest refresh years Disney has had in a long time. From reimagined attractions and updated rides to brand-new entertainment and returning favorites, there’s a LOT happening across all four parks.
Whether you’re planning your next Disney vacation or just love keeping up with the latest park news, here’s your complete guide to everything new, returning, and reopening at Disney World this summer.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Reopens with Major Upgrades
One of the biggest Magic Kingdom updates this year is the reopening of Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin after an extensive refurbishment. The refreshed attraction now includes:
Brand-new handheld blasters
Interactive targets that react when hit
Updated ride vehicles
New lighting and sound effects
Disney officially reopened the attraction on April 8, 2026, and guests are calling it a massive improvement over the original version.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Is Back
After a lengthy refurbishment, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is finally reopened at the Magic Kingdom which opened to the public on May 3rd, 2026.
Disney added refreshed track work, enhanced effects, and a brand-new Rainbow Caverns sequence designed to bring more color and storytelling to the attraction. The ride is expected to feel smoother, brighter, and more immersive than before. For longtime Disney fans, this reopening is a huge deal since Big Thunder has been closed for much of the last year.
The Muppets Are Taking Over Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster
One of the most talked-about changes coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios is the transformation of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. The expected opening date for the attraction is May 26th, 2026.
The classic Aerosmith version is officially being replaced with a new Muppets-themed experience featuring Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem. Disney has teased:
A new storyline
Updated music
A brand-new pre-show
Muppet animatronics
Completely refreshed theming
A Reimagined Walt Disney Studios Area Is Opening
Hollywood Studios is also debuting a refreshed animation-focused area in the former Animation Courtyard space.
The new area will include:
A reimagined “Magic of Disney Animation”
Interactive family experiences
The new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! stage show
This expansion will give the park more daytime entertainment options. The expected opening is May 26th, 2026.
New Mandalorian Content Comes to Smugglers Run
Over at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Disney is adding a new mission featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
The updated experience launches May 22 and introduces:
New mission sequences
Updated visuals
Expanded storylines
More interactive engineer gameplay
This is one of the first major updates to the attraction since it originally opened.
Soarin’ Across America Returns to EPCOT
For a limited time, Soarin' is temporarily bringing back the fan-favorite “Soarin’ Across America” version beginning May 26th, 2026.
The return ties into the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary celebration and gives guests a nostalgic version of the attraction many Disney fans still consider the best.
Bluey Is Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
One of the biggest surprises of the summer is the arrival of Bluey-themed experiences at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
“Bluey’s Wild World” debuts May 26th, 2026 at Conservation Station and is expected to include:
Interactive activities
Character appearances
Family-focused entertainment
This is a huge addition for families with younger kids and one of the first major Bluey experiences inside Walt Disney World. Something to keep in mind is Bluey meet and greets will operate by virtual queue when opening!
Cool KIDS’ SUMMER Returns
Disney is also bringing back its seasonal “Cool KIDS’ SUMMER” event from May 26th through September 8th.
The event includes:
Dance parties
Interactive games
Character experiences
Kid-focused entertainment
Resort activities
Special ticket and hotel offers
FREE water park admission on check-in day for Disney Resort hotel guests.
Disney appears to be leaning heavily into family entertainment this year, especially for younger children visiting during summer break.
Looking Ahead: Bigger Projects Still Under Construction
Even with all these updates, Disney World is still in a major transformation phase. Several huge projects are actively under construction and expected to open in future years, including:
Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom
Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom
The Monsters, Inc. area replacing Muppets Courtyard
Whether you’re coming for the thrill rides at Magic Kingdom, the new experiences at Hollywood Studios, the storytelling at EPCOT, or the family-friendly additions at Animal Kingdom, there’s something new waiting around every corner.
If Disney World has been on your bucket list, 2026 is your sign to go for it.
✨ Let's start planning NOW, lock in your resort stay, and keep an eye on dining reservations because with all these new updates, this summer is expected to be one of the busiest Disney seasons yet.
And most importantly… get ready for a whole new level of Disney magic.
The Beak & Barrel officially opened it's doors to the public August 29th, 2025. This new experience is a pirates themed tavern located at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Adventureland, right next to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Given the theming, it continues the lore of Pirates of the Caribbean: storytelling, immersive décor, cast members in character, atmospheric rooms (the Captain’s Quarters, the Mapmaker’s Room, the Mess) etc.
Whether you're a fan of cocktails or prefer non-alcoholic options, there are several interesting choices. Some fruity, some more complex. Definitely not just “theme park bar food/drink” in the bland sense. I tried both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options: Plunderer’s Punch was fun (especially with the souvenir skull mug, though pricey), and the non-alcoholic one Treasure Trove is creative and indulgent. I will say some of the alcoholic drinks can be stronger than others. The small plates are tasty and thematic. They’re not full meals, but perfect paired with drinks.
My Verdict: Is It Worth Visiting?
Short answer: Yes it is, especially if you work it into your plan smartly.
Here’s how I size it up:
The Beak & Barrel delivers strongly on theming, novelty, and immersive experience. For many guests, those are exactly the kinds of memories that stand out.
It’s not a “must for everyone,” but for a decent segment of Disney visitors — especially repeat visitors or those seeking unique dining/entertainment — this is definitely worth doing.
If you’re staying at Disney property and have flexible schedules, you can likely make this stop without sacrificing too much of your park time. It can serve as a luxury interlude in an otherwise packed day.
Tips if You Decide to Go
As a travel agent, here are my “make it go well” recommendations:
Book early: Set reminders for when your dining window open (60 days). For Disney resort guests, try first thing in the morning, or even before opening time.
Know what you want ahead of time: Because of the time limit, have a rough idea of which drinks/small bites you want. Don’t spend the whole time deciding.
Go with smaller party sizes if possible: With large parties, reservations are harder; splitting up or staggering can help.
Plan in your schedule buffer: Account for travel time inside the park, walking, waiting, etc. Don’t squeeze this in tight with something else you must do immediately after, because you might run late.
Budget accordingly: Expect the drinks and themed items to cost more, especially with souvenir options. Factor that into your daily spend.
Don’t forget children/non-drinkers: The non-alcoholic drinks are good, and the atmosphere is family-friendly, so even if only part of your group drinks, the stop can still work well.
Disney’s Beak & Barrel is more than just a place to grab a drink, it’s an experience layered with story, atmosphere, and that signature Disney magic. While the time limit and higher price point may not suit every traveler, for many, it’s a worthwhile stop that adds something fresh and memorable to a Magic Kingdom day.
As a travel agent, I see this as an excellent option for guests who want to slow down, soak in immersive theming, and enjoy something truly unique beyond rides and parades. If you’re looking for a special way to elevate your trip, whether it’s a couples’ date night, a break for adults, or simply a chance to say you experienced Disney’s newest gem, Beak & Barrel deserves a spot on your itinerary.
