Traveling With Kids: Chaotic, Yes… But Totally Worth It

Traveling with kids isn’t hard… it’s just that you suddenly have to pack like you’re preparing for every possible scenario known to mankind.

I used to travel light. Like really light. Back when it was just me, my biggest concern was cute outfits and which shoes made the cut. Then it became me and my husband; okay, a few more things… maybe some “fun extras” like lingerie or massage oil.

But kids? Ohhh, kids; traveling with toddlers, changes the game entirely.

Now I’m out here asking myself questions like:

  • Are they going to roll off the bed in the hotel?
  • Do we need floaties for the pool?
  • Will they eat the snacks I paid way too much for in the VIP lounge… or will I need backup snacks for my backup snacks?

And don’t even get me started on the packing list:
Water cups. Diapers. Wipes. Diaper cream. Every medicine known to man. Bug spray. Sunscreen. Extra clothes… and not just extra clothes; extra extra clothes. Water clothes. Backup outfits for the backup outfits because we ain't doing laundry on vacay.

And then there’s the entertainment situation:
Plane toys. Airport toys. Emergency “please just sit still for five minutes” toys.

Oh...and transportation? Because apparently tiny humans require full-size equipment. Car seats. Strollers. Luggage for someone who can’t even carry their own luggage.

It’s no longer a trip… it’s a full Broadway production.

If you’re in this season too, just know; you’re not doing it wrong. Traveling with kids isn’t about ease, it’s about adaptability (and a little bit of chaos).

My biggest tip? Pack smart, not perfect. You won’t be ready for everything; but you’ll always figure it out.

And one day? You’ll look back and laugh at how much stuff you thought you needed… while secretly missing the chaos just a little.

Our multigenerational family trip to Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen was absolutely amazing from start to finish!

The resort itself is beautiful, and the staff truly made the experience unforgettable. Everyone was so kind and welcoming; our young adults even made friends with the event staff, which made the trip extra special for all of us. It felt like we were more than just guests.

We upgraded to the Preferred Club, and it was 100% worth it. The added amenities and service really elevated our stay. The food was incredible; honestly a 10/10! I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much guacamole in my life… I had it at nearly every meal, even breakfast!

While the drinks weren’t our favorite, everything else far exceeded our expectations. Overall, it was an incredible experience, and we made memories we’ll never forget.

Thank you for helping us plan such a special trip for our family; we couldn’t have asked for a better vacation!
