Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

Cruising is one of the most exciting—and relaxing—ways to explore the world. But if it’s your first time, you might be wondering:
“What should I pack? How does dining work? Will I get seasick?”
As a travel advisor who’s been on 20+ cruises (and counting!), I’ve helped many first-timers get on board with total confidence. Here’s everything you need to know before setting sail on your first cruise:
1. Not All Cruises Are the Same
From mega ships with water parks to intimate river cruises in Europe, there’s a cruise style for everyone. I help match you with the right one based on:
Your destination bucket list
Your travel personality (adventurer, relaxer, socialite, etc.)
Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, with kids, or in a group
2. You’ll Want to Arrive a Day Early
Even if your cruise departs late in the day, arriving at the port city the day before protects your vacation from unexpected flight delays or cancellations. Plus, you can explore a new city before the ship even leaves!
3. Packing Is Simpler Than You Think
Cruises are mostly casual, but you’ll want a few key items:
Comfortable walking shoes
Swimsuits & cover-ups
Casual clothes for the day, and one or two outfits for dinner or themed nights
Cruise essentials like sunscreen, motion sickness meds (just in case), and a small day bag for port adventures
Tip: Don’t pack your passport or medications in your checked bag!
4. Your Cruise Fare Includes A Lot—but Not Everything
Included:
Your cabin, meals in the main dining areas, onboard activities, entertainment, and most kids’ clubs
Not always included:
Alcoholic beverages
Specialty dining
Shore excursions
Gratuities
Wi-Fi
I’ll walk you through what’s included in your cruise line—and help you budget for the extras.
5. You’ll Never Be Bored (Unless You Want to Be!)
Today’s cruise ships offer everything from Broadway-style shows and trivia nights to spas, pools, fitness centers, cooking classes, and wine tastings.
Whether you want to relax or stay busy, there’s something for everyone.
6. Shore Excursions = Built-In Adventures
In each port, you’ll have the option to explore on your own or book guided excursions like:
Snorkeling and beach days
Food tours and cultural experiences
Ziplining or hiking
Historical walking tours
Shopping and sightseeing
I can help you select excursions that match your interests and activity level.
7. You Can Stay Connected (But Unplugging Is Nice Too)
Cruise ships offer Wi-Fi packages, but they can be pricey. Many travelers use their cruise as a chance to unplug and recharge—but I’ll help you decide what internet plan (if any) is worth it based on your needs.
8. Seasickness Is Rare—But Manageable
Today’s cruise ships are incredibly stable, and most first-timers don’t get seasick. But if you’re concerned, bring motion sickness bands or over-the-counter meds just in case. Choosing a mid-ship cabin on a lower deck can also help.
9. A Travel Advisor Makes It Smoother (and More Fun)
As a cruise specialist, I help you with:
Choosing the right cruise line, ship, and itinerary
Booking the best stateroom for your budget and preferences
Travel insurance and documentation
Transfers, pre- or post-cruise stays, and excursions
Insider tips and personal cruise prep checklists
You won’t have to navigate it all alone—I’ve got you covered from deposit to disembarkation.
Let’s Plan Your First Cruise with Confidence
Ready to set sail for the first time? Whether you’re eyeing the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, or beyond, I’ll help you navigate the entire process and create a seamless, exciting adventure from start to finish.
Fill out my Travel Inquiry Form and let’s make your first cruise one to remember!
If you’ve been dreaming of a vacation where you don’t have to worry about what to eat, what to do, or what to spend—an all-inclusive resort might be your perfect match.
But if you’ve never been to one before, it’s normal to wonder:
“Is an all-inclusive really worth it? What’s included? How do I choose the right one?”
As a travel advisor who helps clients experience stress-free getaways, I’m here to break it all down so you can take your first all-inclusive vacation with confidence.
What Is an All-Inclusive Resort, Anyway?
An all-inclusive resort is exactly what it sounds like:
one upfront price that covers your accommodations, meals, snacks, drinks (yes—even cocktails!), activities, and entertainment. Some even include airport transfers, tips, and water sports.
You check in, unpack, and then just relax. No budgeting for each meal. No figuring out where to eat. No calculating costs all day.
Why First-Time Travelers Love All-Inclusive Vacations
Everything’s taken care of – No need to plan every detail or worry about extra costs.
Perfect for all travel styles – Whether you’re a beach bum, foodie, spa lover, or activity seeker, there’s a resort vibe for you.
Built-in flexibility – Want to lay by the pool all day? Do it. Want to try salsa dancing or paddleboarding? It’s there when you’re ready.
Unplug and recharge – You get the luxury of time and space to truly relax, with no decisions to make once you arrive.
Ideal for couples, families, and groups – Everyone finds what they love, without having to split up or compromise.
What’s Usually Included (and What’s Not)
Included at most true all-inclusives:
Accommodations
All meals & snacks
Alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages
Pools, beaches, and fitness centers
Daily entertainment and activities
Kids and teen clubs (for family resorts)
Non-motorized water sports (like kayaks or snorkeling)
Not always included (but I’ll guide you):
Spa treatments
Premium wines or private dinners
Off-property excursions
Tips (some resorts include them, others don’t)
Tips for First-Time All-Inclusive Travelers
Don’t overpack – You’ll live in swimsuits, sandals, and casual clothes.
Try the local flavors – From themed dinners to beach BBQs, it’s all included—so explore!
Use the daily activity schedule – It’s a great way to try new things without commitment.
Book excursions through your advisor – I’ll help you pick safe, memorable add-ons that match your interests.
Work with a travel advisor – That’s me! I’ll match you with the right resort, right room category, and the right vibe for your vacation style.

If you’re looking for a vacation that combines relaxation, rich history, stunning scenery, and incredible cuisine—river cruising might just be your perfect match.
Unlike massive ocean liners, river cruises offer a more intimate, immersive way to explore the heart of Europe and beyond. As a travel advisor specializing in river and ocean cruises, I’ve helped many travelers discover why river cruising is one of the most rewarding ways to travel—especially for couples, food lovers, and culture seekers.
Here’s why:
1. Romantic & Relaxing for Couples
River cruises are made for connection.
Picture this: sipping wine on the sun deck as you float past medieval castles, wandering hand-in-hand through cobbled villages, or enjoying candlelit dinners with panoramic views. The atmosphere on river cruises is peaceful, scenic, and far more personal than traditional cruise ships—making them perfect for anniversaries, honeymoons, or just time away together.
2. A Culinary Experience You’ll Remember
If you’re a foodie, you’re going to love what river cruises offer.
Many river cruise lines pride themselves on regionally inspired cuisine, onboard wine tastings, and even culinary shore excursions. You can try Austrian schnitzel in Vienna, fresh pastries in Paris, or Riesling in the Rhine Valley—often with locally sourced ingredients and paired wines that bring the destinations to life.
Some cruises even offer chef-led market tours or onboard cooking classes!
3. Immersive Cultural Access—Without the Hassle
Unlike ocean cruises, river cruise ships dock right in the heart of historic cities and towns, meaning you can step off the ship and be in the middle of the action.
With fewer passengers, guided tours are smaller, more in-depth, and often include local experts. Whether you’re exploring castles along the Danube, sampling wines in Bordeaux, or strolling through Amsterdam’s art scene, river cruising offers genuine cultural connection without the crowds.
Unpack Once, See So Much
River cruises offer the luxury of seeing multiple destinations—without the stress of packing, unpacking, or navigating trains and transfers. Your floating boutique hotel takes you from city to city while you sleep or sip coffee on deck.
It’s Europe made easy.
5. A More Personal, All-Inclusive Experience
With most river cruise lines, gratuities, excursions, Wi-Fi, meals, and beverages are included, so there are no surprises later. The service is attentive, the atmosphere is friendly, and it’s common to leave feeling like family.
Ready to Step Aboard?
If you’ve been curious about river cruising, now’s the perfect time to plan. Whether you’re dreaming of the Danube, Rhine, Seine, or Douro—I’ll help match you with the perfect ship, itinerary, and experience that suits your style and interests.
