Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

Seriously, if you’re planning a destination wedding go with Kendell! We just got back from our wedding at Haven Riviera Maya, and it went so well! We debated even using a travel agent but she was so worth it! It felt like herding cats, but Kendell handled every single guest's travel, room bookings, and questions like a total pro. It took so much weight off our shoulders. She sent out detailed information to everyone before traveling and they loved it.
She even talked me off the ledge a couple of times and reminded me that it was all handled. Kendell was great through it all! I highly recommend Kendell's services. She's the best! -Steven & Ashley
Costa Rica Rainforest
When Kendell asked if I was open to staying in the rainforest I was definitely unsure. I haven’t even camped in OK. 😂 The resort was amazing with hot springs and perfect location. We did one full day of activities and it was amazing to see the rainforest, Arenal volcano 🌋 And the waterfall which was 500 steps down and 500 steps up! Perfect weather with a raincoat! Would definitely go back. -Sandy Espino

When people think of Alaska, they often picture glaciers from the deck of a ship. But to truly experience the 'Great Land,' you have to step off the boat and head deep into the interior. While many lines dabble in land tours, Holland America Line (HAL) has spent 75 years perfecting them.
If you're looking for the ultimate Alaska experience, here is why Holland America isn’t just an option—it’s the gold standard.
1. The Denali Difference: More Time, More Wildlife Most cruise lines offer a 'glance' at Denali. Holland America offers an immersion. They are the only cruise line that guarantees up to three nights at Denali on select itineraries.
The 'Double Denali' Edge: While others rush back to the train after one night, HAL’s 'Double Denali' itineraries give you a full day dedicated to the Tundra Wilderness Tour and a second day to explore at your own pace.
The Lodge: The McKinley Chalet Resort is a 68-acre riverside paradise. Recently refurbished, the lodge features the 'Denali Square' complex—think fire pits for s'mores, local music, and the best views of the Nenana River.
Upgrade Your View: For just $99 per person, per night, you can upgrade to a Denali Suite. Imagine heated bathroom floors and a private balcony overlooking the rugged Alaskan wilderness.
2. Venture into the Yukon: A Journey Back in Time This is HAL’s 'secret sauce.' They are one of the very few lines with the infrastructure to take you into the Canadian Yukon. This isn't just a day trip; it’s an epic exploration of the Klondike Gold Rush history.
Dawson City: You’ll stay in this remote, unpaved town where the sidewalks are still made of wood. It feels like a movie set because it is—much of the Gold Rush history was filmed here.
Unique Experiences: Follow in the footsteps of Jack London, visit Diamond Tooth Gertie’s (Canada’s oldest gambling hall), or if you’re brave enough, head to the Downtown Hotel for the infamous Sourtoe Cocktail.
White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad: Holland America owns this historic narrow-gauge railroad. You’ll climb nearly 3,000 feet past glaciers and waterfalls in vintage rail cars.
3. The 'Have It All' Advantage (And Why to Book NOW) Booking early for 2026 or 2027 isn't just about getting the best room—it’s about the massive value. Currently, the Have It All program is a game-changer:
Save $250 per person right off the bat.
Premium Perks: Get the Elite Beverage Package and Premium Wi-Fi (yes, you can actually stream your favorite shows in the middle of the North Pacific).
The 2027 Bonus: Book a 2027 Cruisetour now, and HAL is throwing in a meal plan worth up to $900 per person, covering your dining while on the land portion of your trip.
Pro Tip: Are you an AARP member, teacher, first responder, or healthcare worker? Mention it! There are additional credits and discounts waiting for you.
4. Life on the Ship: Authentically Alaskan Even when you’re back on the ship, the Alaska experience doesn't stop.
The Junior Ranger Program: Perfect for kids (and the young at heart), complete tasks to earn a real National Park badge.
Sustainable Seafood: HAL is the first cruise line to serve 100% sustainable and traceable fresh seafood in Alaska.
Glacier Bay: They have more permits than anyone else, meaning 95% of their itineraries include a full day in Glacier Bay National Park with on-board naturalists.
Ready to Start Your Adventure?
Whether you're a birding group looking for rare sightings or a family reunion wanting to open up the partitions between five balcony staterooms to create your own 'private deck,' I can help you navigate the options.
Would you like me to put together a custom quote for a 2026 'Double Denali' itinerary so you can lock in those early booking bonuses?
When researching luxury cruises or expedition voyages, three names often come up: Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Silversea. All three deliver high-end experiences—but they are designed for different travel styles.

Here’s a neutral breakdown to help you decide.

Seabourn
Ships carry approximately 250–600 guests
Atmosphere is relaxed, refined, and informal
Emphasis on space, flow, and comfort
Regent Seven Seas
Generally larger ships

Structured, polished onboard experience
Silversea

Regent Seven Seas

Silversea
Many inclusions, with variations depending on itinerary and expedition level
Pricing often comparable to Regent for expedition sailings
Best fit depends on: whether you prefer bundled pricing or flexible, à la carte options.
Service Style & Personalization
Seabourn
Approximately 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio
Highly personalized service focused on individual preferences
Regent Seven Seas
Excellent service with a more standardized luxury approach
Silversea
Strong service levels, particularly on expedition sailings
Personalization can vary by ship
Best fit depends on: whether you value intuitive personalization or consistent, structured service.
Destinations & Itinerary Depth All three cruise lines offer global itineraries, but they approach destinations differently.
Seabourn
Focus on fewer ports with longer stays
Strong emphasis on cultural access and expedition-style experiences
Known for unique destination moments such as chef-led market visits and private access to sites
Regent Seven Seas
Broad destination coverage
Traditional port-based sightseeing with included excursions
Silversea
Strong destination access, particularly in remote regions
Long-standing expedition heritage
Best fit depends on: whether you prefer depth and immersion or a comprehensive sightseeing approach.
Antarctica & Expedition Cruising Antarctica is one of the most complex travel experiences to plan, and cruise line differences matter here more than anywhere else.
Seabourn Antarctica Expeditions
Dedicated 24-person expedition team
Multiple landings per day when conditions allow
Kayaking, Zodiac landings, and submarine experiences
Informal onboard environment with no formal nights
Strong environmental practices
Regent Antarctica
Limited expedition offerings
More traditional cruising style
Silversea Antarctica
Well-established expedition program
Structured expedition schedule
Higher degree of bundled inclusions
Best fit depends on: how active you want to be and how immersive you want the expedition to feel.
Who Each Cruise Line Typically Suits Best
Seabourn may be a good fit if you:
Prefer relaxed luxury over formality
Value space and a quieter onboard environment
Want flexibility with excursions
Are interested in expedition-style cruising with comfort

Want a fully bundled, predictable cost structure
Prefer a traditional luxury cruise atmosphere

Believe it or not my first trip to Disney was an adults only, girls weekend getaway! We escaped an artic blast in Oklahoma and found ourselves in the middle of Disney MAGIC!
I was always a Disney skeptic and had no real desire to go and I certainly didn't believe in the 'Magic of Disney,' but at every turn I was proven wrong time and time again even as an adult!! We hit all the parks, and of couse drank around the world at Epcot which culminated in berets, Canada athleisure wear and zooming around Test Track at a cool 65mph. We ate, we drank, we rope dropped and we had the best time. Below I've put together a fun list of things you may need or to keep in mind for your adults only Disney vacation.
Bring Sunscreen (even in the winter months) - I totally failed on this one!
Take a day to bar hop at the resorts using the skyliner and the monorail as your transportation. So.Much. Fun.
Wear pants with pockets. You will be using your phone constantly. It's just easier...trust.
Be flexible. Have a general plan for the day but know this is not set in stone...especially if your drinkning around the world at Epcot.
If you don't know, ask. Seriously everyone is so nice. If it's a Disney app issue look for the cast members under the blue umbrellas.
Magic Kingdom doesn't have alcohol booths. Be prepared. IYKYK.
Bring snacks and a travel mug, most quick service locations will give you free cups of water. So stay hydrated!
Items are closer than they appear....on the map. The maps can be overwhelming, but I was surprised how close things felt comparatively.
Comfy shoes, motrin, bandaids....this is the ultimate trifecta. Make it your mantra and never be without any of these things. I warned you!
If on a girls' trip consider pantyliners. Yep, I went there. We all know our pelvic floors aren't what they use to be and it's guaranteed someone in your group will pee themselves laughing. And this my friends, is the magic of Disney, not the pee of course, but the bonds it brings, the happiness it creates and the memories it makes.
