Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

When most people picture a cruise, they think of massive ocean liners with waterslides, Broadway-style shows, and endless buffets. But river cruises? They’re a whole different world—one that’s quietly becoming the favorite way to travel for those who want comfort, culture, and connection.
I’ve planned and sailed on plenty of river cruise journeys, and the thing I hear so often is: “I had no idea it was this great' So let’s spill the secrets.
Here are five surprising facts about river cruising that just might change the way you see river cruising.
1. Cabins Feel Like Boutique Hotels
Think small and cramped? Think again. Modern river ships boast stylish cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows—and many even have French balconies. It’s more “floating boutique hotel” than “tiny cabin.”
2. All-Inclusive Actually Means All-Inclusive
No nickel-and-diming here.
Wine with dinner? Included.
Daily guided excursions? Included.
Wi-Fi? Often complimentary.
River cruises are designed so you can focus on enjoying the experience, not watching the bill creep higher.
3. You See More, With Less Stress
Forget packing and unpacking in every new city. On a river cruise, your ship is your hotel. You float effortlessly from one incredible destination to the next—no train stations, no long transfers, no hassle.
4. They’re Not Just for Retirees Anymore
That old stereotype? Outdated.
Today’s river cruises offer bike tours, hiking, kayaking, wine tastings, and even family-friendly itineraries.
Whether you’re traveling with your partner, your friends, or your kids, there’s a cruise style that fits.
5. You’ll Reach Places Ocean Ships Never Can
Ocean liners can’t sail into the heart of Europe, Southeast Asia, or Egypt—but river cruises glide right in. Picture sipping wine along Portugal’s Douro, drifting past temples on the Mekong, or exploring ancient history on the Nile. It’s travel on a whole new level.
The Bottom Line River cruises are culture without being cramped, sightseeing without the added stress, and luxury without the fuss.
If you’ve been curious, take this as your sign—it might just be the most effortless (and unforgettable) way you’ll ever travel.
Traveling solo is one of life’s most freeing experiences. You set your own pace, choose your own adventures, and never have to compromise on your dream itinerary. But solo travel can also come with its challenges—navigating unfamiliar places alone, managing all the logistics, and sometimes feeling a little isolated along the way.
That’s where river cruising shines. Whether you’re a seasoned solo traveler or setting out for your first independent adventure, here’s why river cruises are an incredible choice:
Effortless Logistics
On a river cruise, the itinerary, transportation, and accommodations are all wrapped into one seamless package. You can unpack once, yet wake up in a new city or country each day—no need to juggle trains, buses, or hotel check-ins on your own.
Built-In Community
While you’ll have plenty of time for solo exploring, a river cruise naturally offers a welcoming, social environment. You’ll dine with fellow travelers, join group excursions, and meet like-minded adventurers from around the world—perfect for building friendships without the pressure of constantly seeking company.
Safe and Secure
River cruises operate in well-traveled, secure regions and have crew members on hand around the clock. You’ll always have a home base to return to, so you can explore confidently, even in unfamiliar destinations.
Immersive, Small-Group Experiences
Unlike massive ocean liners, river ships carry fewer guests, making excursions more intimate and tailored. You’ll enjoy guided tours, hands-on cultural experiences, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with locals—without feeling lost in the crowd.
Great Balance of Freedom and Structure
You can join the planned activities or simply wander the ports at your own pace. River cruises give you the freedom to choose how much (or how little) you want to socialize, making it ideal for independent spirits. ( best of both worlds )
Value for Money
Many river cruises are surprisingly inclusive—covering meals, drinks, excursions, and even gratuities. This makes budgeting simple and eliminates the need for constant decision-making about where to eat or what to do next.
Bottom line: River cruising offers solo travelers the best of both worlds—independence without isolation, adventure with comfort, and a stress-free way to see the world. Whether you’re meandering through the Danube, exploring the Seine, or discovering the Mekong, you’ll have a safe, enriching, and unforgettable journey—on your terms.

How to Choose the Perfect Romantic Destination for Your Next Getaway
Planning a romantic escape—whether it's a honeymoon, babymoon, anniversary trip, or even a dreamy elopement—is one of the most exciting parts of your love story. But with so many beautiful destinations to choose from, how do you narrow it down and find the perfect place for the two of you?
Here are my top tips for choosing the right romantic destination that fits your vibe, budget, and love story:
1. Start With Your Shared Travel Style
Ask yourselves:
Are we beach loungers or mountain adventurers?
Do we love exploring cities or unplugging in nature?
Do we picture ourselves sipping wine in Europe or enjoying sunset tacos by the sea?
Your destination should reflect you as a couple—not what’s trending on social media.
2. Consider the Season & Weather
Just like your love, timing matters! The best time to visit Santorini? Not the same as Bali. Some destinations shine in spring, others in winter. If you’re set on a certain month, let’s find a destination that offers ideal weather and avoids hurricane seasons, crowds, or closures.
3. Match Your Budget to the Experience
You can have a luxurious, unforgettable romantic getaway without blowing your budget. Whether you're planning a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon or a quick babymoon escape, knowing your comfort zone helps me create a perfectly tailored experience—without the stress.
Bonus: Some destinations offer more value for your dollar (think all-inclusive Caribbean or Southeast Asia), while others are worth the splurge (hello, overwater bungalows!).
4. Decide What “Romantic” Means to You
Romance looks different to every couple. Do you imagine:
A candlelit dinner on a private beach?
Hiking to waterfalls and soaking in hot springs?
Sleeping in a glass cabin under the northern lights?
Let your imagination run wild—then let me match it with real-world magic.
5. Don’t Forget the Details
Passports, travel time, Zika considerations (for babymoons), or legal marriage requirements for elopements—all these little details matter. When we work together, I help navigate all the logistics so your only job is to show up and enjoy.
6. Work With a Romance Travel Specialist (hi, it’s me!)
Choosing the perfect destination shouldn’t be stressful or overwhelming. I specialize in romance travel and help couples like you every day. I’ll get to know your vision, offer curated options, and handle all the booking and planning.
Because love deserves a little extra sparkle ✨
Ready to plan your perfect romantic getaway? Let’s chat about your dream trip—whether it's a peaceful babymoon, a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon, or a spontaneous anniversary adventure. I’ll help you make it effortlessly unforgettable.
